About this tool
Live Translate translates text as you type between 40 languages, including English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi and Urdu, and major world languages such as Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese. Choose Detect language and the source language is recognised automatically. In recent desktop Chrome, translation can run privately on your device using the browser’s built-in translator: your text never leaves your computer, and it works offline after a one-time language download. For other browsers and language pairs, it uses the MyMemory machine-translation service, and the page tells you which engine translated your text. Swap languages in one click (the translation becomes the new source), copy the result, and listen to the original or the translation when your device has a voice for that language. Up to 2,000 characters are translated at a time. Machine translation is useful for understanding and everyday messages, but it can be wrong, so ask a professional translator for contracts, medical or legal text.
